Your Legal Document Assistant (LDA)
California Association of Legal Document Assistants (CALDA) is an organization of Legal Document Assistant professionals who promote high standards of ethical conduct in each of their members. All members are committed to continued education and professional responsibility. CALDA has members in counties all over California. If you need a Legal Document Assistant in your area, you can visit: CALDA
If you are in these areas, the following LDAs are highly professional and knowledgeable about the local rules of their district courts and those in nearby counties, the clerks, and more important, how to help you within the law. On a personal level, they are compassionate, supportive and always have a positive attitude (which always helps going through the process). Each serves on the Board of Directors for CALDA

The Law and the Legal Document Assistant
The legal community has finally warmed up to Legal Document Assistants. The law recognizes them under Business and Professions Code 6400-6415, the county Courts have allowed their registration, and successful attorneys are catching on that we are their best friend.
B & P Code 6400(c)-6415 defines what a Legal Document Assistant is allowed by law. The Courts recognize when a Self-Represented Litigant has retained a Legal Document Assistant (LDA). Each and every document filed must contain the following: The LDA’s name, business address, telephone number, registration number, expiration date of registration, and the county of that registration.
- No engagement in the practice of law>
- Ethical and efficient service to everyone
- Fully compliant with applicable state and federal laws
- An LDA winn never represent them self as a lawyer
- Full disclosure of costs and terms
A Legal Document Assistant is not an attorney and Civil Split is not a law firm. I am only able to provide self-help services at your specific direction. For more information visit: California Business & Professions Code Section 6400.
